Orquesta La Moderna Tradición
DATE: May 6, 2010
TIME: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
LOCATION: Jessie Square
Orquesta La Moderna Tradición (Cuban danzón) transports us to an era of sensual danzones and swinging cha-chas — the music of the Havana social clubs of the 1950s. The only band in the U.S. that plays this type of danzón and Cuban music, the 12-piece ensemble captures the romance and style of a memorable era in Cuban dance music, with a special focus on danzón. The orchestra’s repertoire ranges from ballads to the latest salsa and timba grooves with surprising twists. Orquesta La Moderna Tradición has performed at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing, San Francisco Jazz Festival, and the Smithsonian Institution. Come early for dance lessons!
